36. Abdiel Darnell¹ was born about 1778. He died on 7 Jan 1853 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Listed as Odell Darnell. When and where he was born is not known, except that it was prior to 1780. The 1810 Census of NC gives both his and Katy's age as between 26 and 45 years. The 1850 Census of Wilkes Co., NC gives his age as 70 and hers as 60; they were in the household of John and Jane Darnell in 1850, who we assume to be the younger son and his wife. On 7 January 1853 we find the death of an ODELL Darnell in Wilkes Co. Since Abdiel did not appear on the 1860 Census, again, we assume it was he who died on that date. The names of his children are not known. Through census records, family tradition and pure speculation the following have been tentatively assigned to this family.
